Young Adult Services Librarian
The Young Adult Services Librarian reports to the Head of Youth Services at the Bellingham Public Library and works as part of a team of three librarians who provide services to children ages 0-18. The Young Adult Librarian's focus is on youth ages 11-18 but may be asked to assist with or offer programming for younger children as time permits. The Bellingham Public Library has funded this position for the last two years and hopes to continue to offer innovative and energetic programming and quality reference and homework help in a welcoming environment for teens. The library is located between the middle and high schools and boasts a large young adult area and a sufficient collection of young adult materials. This position is part-time up to 19 hours per week with a flexible but regular schedule including late afternoons and evenings. Very few Saturdays are required. There are no benefits. Desired: MLS and experience serving young adults. Considered: a graduate student in the field of library science and/or other qualifications and experience. $16.50 to $19.50 per hour depending upon qualifications and experience.
