American Triumph- Project Apollo
An overview of American Triumph – Project Apollo was exhibited through memorabilia and a discussion. The focus was on the first manned lunar landing mission in July of 1969, including key contributors, the astronauts, technology and the legacy that is so important now. Presenter James Hand, a Bellingham resident, worked on Project Apollo for over ten years, first at Kollsman Instrument Corporation, NY, then at MIT/Instrumentation Laboratory, Cambridge, MA (now C.S. Draper Laboratory, Inc.). His work was formally recognized by the head of NASA, the President of MIT and the President of Draper Laboratory, Charles Stark Draper.
