1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a national program that is intended to promote reading together with your child. The more words and books a child is exposed to in their early years, the more likely s/he is to enjoy books, love reading, and be good at it!

How do I get started?

It’s easy!

  1. Sign up here.
  2. Read! Add each book you read to your online reading log. If you read the same book again and again, it counts each time you read it! Books we read in story time count too! 🙂
  3. For every 100 books you read, come in to the library to get a sticker. Once you get to 1000 books, you will get an invite to our 1000 Books Party!
  4. Have fun and help your child foster a love for books and get smarter along the way!

When can I start?

You can start when your child is just born or you can start when your child is four years old, or any time in between. Start today! If you read just one book a day, you will reach 1000 books in less than 3 years! If you only have a year to complete the program, read 3 books per day to get to 1000 books quicker.
